Happy Mothers Day!

Today was a great day! My belly is full and happy and so is my heart.

Now you all know by now that I can’t turn down an excuse to serve a meal where I get to use all my dishes, knives, cookware and serving platters and bowls. This was true today, too!

This year, we started a new family tradition. Last year, I cooked dinner for my mom for Mothers Day. This year, we brought in Silvia and Eddie and invited them to join the party. After all, Silvia is our mom too!

And so it was, me, Tanner, my mom, Silvia, Eddie, Katie and Courtney all joined up to celebrate mothers, our mothers.

Tanner and I cooked the main meal and Katie and Courtney did dessert. I know you wait with bated breath for pictures of the meal and copies of the recipes, but you’ll have to hold that breath a little longer. Recipes may come later! Maybe!

I also got so excited about eating that I didn’t take any pictures. So no pictures of the actual meal either unless it gets duplicated some time! Sorry.  :/

Anyway, we had a feast for sure! Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken and my Aunt Janet’s Best Ever Green Salad and corn on the cob. The grilled chicken was marinated in a mix of dijon mustard, honey, mayo and steak sauce. An odd combination, I know, but very good. Tanner did the grilling and basting; he is an excellent grill master and chef–he is actually head chef most of this week doing Mahi Mahi on Monday and his famed black beans and rice on Tuesday! I also made cinnamon sour cream biscuits from scratch. I know they sound weird, too, but they were good!

For dessert, Katie and Courtney made fried Oreos (to die for) accompanied by vanilla ice cream and sliced strawberries. It was delicious!

Though the food was amazing, it wasn’t lost on Tanner and me that this was the start of a new tradition. A family tradition for OUR family. Knowing that was almost as filling as the Mothers Day meal.
